Description: The Teller Historic and Environmental Coalition (T.H.E. Coalition) will host a special art exhibit of Colorado artist Nadine Kent Drummond (1912-1966) at Park State Bank & Trust in Woodland Park during the month of May in the Eichman Gallery. To commemorate Drummond’s work, T.H.E. Coalition and the Drummond family will also host a reception at the bank the evening of May 18 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. There is no cost to attend the reception; the public is invited. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
This exhibit will feature numerous paintings from the family’s private collection—most of which have never been on public display. Also on display will be paintings and sketches on loan from the Kirkland Museum of Fine and Decorative Art in Denver and the Fine Arts Center in Colorado Springs.
In addition, the Drummond family has made available 50 first-run, limited edition prints of Drummond’s painting “Divide” available for sale to the public. Each print will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and a bio of Nadine Kent Drummond. All proceeds from the sale of the prints will help support T.H.E. Coalition’s Midland Depot at Divide Preservation Project.
Nadine Kent Drummond studied art under Boardman Robinson at Colorado College where she graduated in 1934. Her studies continued under artists such as Max Beckmann at the University of Colorado, Vance Kirkland, Ward Lockwood, Willard Nash, Henry Varnum Poor, George Biddle, and others. Her early works focused on scenes from Southern Colorado including

scenes from Divide and Cripple Creek. During her career Drummond was quoted as saying “You paint the things you know and love. For me this means mountains, rocks, and trees,” all of which are common themes of Teller County.
From the 1940s and continuing into the 1960s, Drummond held successful art shows around the United States and was awarded a silver medal from the Museum of Modern Art in Paris. She was also a member of the prestigious group known as “Fifteen Colorado Artists.” Her paintings are on display in the Denver Public Library, Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, Kirkland Museum of Fine and Decorative Art, as well as in several other businesses and private collections.
The Teller Historic and Environmental Coalition is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation formed in 2000 (EIN 84-1552939). T.H.E. Coalition’s mission is to facilitate preservation of the historic, environmental, recreational and scenic resources in and around Teller County, and to broaden public understanding regarding the significance of those resources.
